Dysport - Injection Treatment Options for Wrinkle Removal
Dysport is a product that is injected into the skin that reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It was approved by the FDA for use in the U.S. in July of 2009, and is the first competitor to Botox because it also works by using the botulinum toxin. This product is also known and Reloxin in some markets and provides the same treatment as Botox, but with additional benefits. This product takes effect in 1-2 days, which is faster than its rival. It also offers results for months longer than Botox does, especially when used in younger patients.
Both Dysport and Botox use toxins to modify the operation of the facial muscles and smooth out lines and wrinkles, but each have a dosing prescription that is very different. You should never receive either treatment from anyone who isn’t a trained and licensed professional who has experience with the treatments. This particular injection is manufactured by Ipsen LTD and was created for the same reasons that Botox was developed. However, it is also used to treat excessive sweating or hyperhydrosis, and comes with a non-cosmetic alternative like Botox has to treat muscle spasms of a medical nature.
Dysport is essentially NOT the same as Botox, but it is similar. Each has their own ways of working and specific dosing instructions. Each will have different adverse effects, results, and success rates. However, on average, this product seems to have longer lasting results, fewer adverse effects, and works much better on young patients who might not see exceptional results with a Botox injection. This procedure can be done in a matter of minutes in the office and patients can go right back to their daily lives as soon as they leave the doctor.
While Dysport is still a temporary solution to a permanent problem, it does seem to be more effective than its competition. If you are considering this treatment, you will want to discuss your options with your doctor to ensure that you are making the right decision. There is nothing more important than getting the procedures done that you need done, but you want to make sure that you do it properly and don’t set yourself up for failure by not doing all the research and asking all the right questions. In the end, this is a relatively safe and effective procedure, albeit temporary, for the use of reduction in fine lines and wrinkles in the face.
